Kitten the Mitten, Smitten for the Written

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.

A book is like a garden carried in the pocket.

Just finished The Help! The story of a young woman named Skeeter in Jackson, Mississippi and a group of black maids in the 1960s who publish a book telling the struggles against the written and unwritten rules of their lives, The Help is a enticing novel by Kathryn Stockett.  I absolutely loved this book! This page-turner gives insight onto everyday matters that African Americans faced not just the more often recognized Martin Luther King’s March on Washington or numerous sit-ins at diners and such throughout the south. I highly recommend this book to all (even if you’re not a history buff)!
And the author spells her first name the same as myself! I’ve never seen anyone else spell it the same way! ;)

Engrossed in the Hunger Games Series, am I.  My roommates coerced me into reading the series before the movie premieres in March and I cannot stop reading them.  Distraught at the thought of having her younger sister, Prim, act as tribute from District 12 for the Hunger Games, Katniss volunteers and is from then on entangled in a chaotic event that leads her only to more turmoil.  The Hunger Games were initiated after an attempted rebellion from District 13 in the country of Panam.  Each year a male and female tribute, between the ages of twelve and eighteen, for each of the twelve remaining districts are required to participate in the games in which only one can emerge victorious.  I’m nearly finished Catching Fire and am entirely anxious and eager to begin reading Mockingjay, the third and final book of the series.  I’m hoping tomorrow that my boss doesn’t take notice that ill be reading the entire day.

P.S. For those who are reading: I rooting for Peeta.

A great book should leave you with many experiences, and slightly exhausted at the end. You live several lives while reading.
